Driver warns of Kansas Turnpike increases on longer trips [Video]

Tom Davis often drives the Kansas Turnpike from the Kansas City area to visit relatives in Wichita.However, depending on where he exits, Davis is paying between 3% and nearly 5% more for the trip since the Kansas Turnpike Authority switched to a cashless tolling system in July.Davis contacted KMBC 9 Investigates to warn other drivers about bill increases, especially on longer trips, due to the state’s new cashless toll system.“I just want more transparency and clarity when those changes happen and how they’re communicated to us,” Davis said. “I’m trying to be my own best advocate to understand why this is happening.”Under the new system, toll booths for cash payments are gone.
