Dublin Airport power cut sparks backlog [Video]

A power cut at Dublin Airport on Sunday caused delays to flight operations, with another 34,000 premises being affected, writes Sarah Slater.

Airport operator DAA said an ESB power outage in the area resulted in a loss of electricity in parts of Terminal 2.

The operator said the outage caused an issue with the airport’s back-up generators, resulting in delays for passengers checking in at T2. It said most flight operations continued as normal during the incident.

Spokesman Graeme McQueen explained there was a small backlog at T2 on Sunday afternoon and 15 flights were delayed because of the power cut.

However, he warned that passengers should expect things to take a “little bit longer than normal” while the backlog was cleared.

The DAA said passengers should continue to travel to the airport as normal and urged passengers to contact airlines directly for information on specific flights. A full review was under way to find out why …
