DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Charging an electric vehicle at a public EV station in Dubuque will cost 47% more starting Monday, January 27.
The city is raising its charging fee from $0.17 per kilowatt-hour to $0.25/kWh.
“That’s still half the price of the superchargers here by Tesla,” says John Fick, an electric vehicle owner from Platteville, Wisconsin. “I probably won’t use it as often as I used to, just because I live so close, but if you’re coming from, say, Chicago, this is still cheaper than going to a really fast charger.”
Fick says he visits Dubuque several times a month for meetings and other events, leaving his Tesla on a city charger for a couple hours. The increase will cost Fick nearly an extra dollar for every two hours on the charger.
