Dukes Mayo owner to be sold by Charlotte firm WSOC TV [Video]

CHARLOTTE — Advent International, a global private equity firm, has reached a deal to acquire Sauer Brands Inc., a company known for its portfolio of condiments and seasonings brands, from Charlotte-based Falfurrias Capital Partners.

Financial terms of the deal, announced Monday, were not disclosed.

Sauer Brands, whose iconic products include Duke’s Mayo, Mateo’s Gourmet Salsa and Kernel Season’s, has become a formidable player in the condiments and seasonings market. Among these, Duke’s Mayo stands out as a key brand with a legacy dating back to 1917. Boston-based Advent said Duke’s is the fastest-growing large-scale player in the mayonnaise category.
