Election result represents a vote for Ireland’s enterprise economy [Video]

The general election has resulted in a pleasing outcome for business, with the electorate voting decisively in favour of Ireland’s enterprise economy, writes Nick Mulcahy.

Between them, Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, Aontú and Independent Ireland (II) garnered 50.2% of first preference votes compared with the 34.3% total for the five parties offering a more radical socialist alternative.

Between them, Aontú and II captured 7.5% of the vote, more than the Green Party (7.1%) in 2020.

What’s interesting about Aontú and II is that their campaign platforms included multiple practical suggestions for supporting small indigenous enterprises, particularly in rural areas.

Both parties share much common ground with Fianna Fáil, which was rewarded for championing the enterprise economy by winning the most votes and the most seats. It’s highly probable that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gaelwill be returning to power in another coalition and, in terms of numbers, Labour could offer more government stability …
