IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – There’s nowhere to go but up for the Iowa volleyball team.
The Hawkeyes lost all 20 conference games in 2023, but they’re confident this is the team that turns a struggling program around.
Jim Barnes is in year three in Iowa City. His pitch to recruits and transfers has remained the same.
“Come here and help up built it. I’m not gonna quote the movie but, if you build it… you know how to finish it,” Barnes said. “These players want that challenge of taking this program, which has never really excelled in the Big Ten, and be the team that helps it start going in that direction.”
The only two players who were in Iowa City during Barnes’ first year are seniors Anna Davis and Michelle Urquhart.
Davis says despite the road bumps, her goals for the program have not waivered.
