August arrives in Kansas City later this week. The new month will get started in brutal fashion, with extreme and dangerous temperatures beginning on Monday and lasting through Thursday. An Excessive Heat Alert is in place across the metro through that timeframe.Temperatures will hover just under 100 degrees for nearly the entire work week, with humidity pushing the heat index well above 100 degrees. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the heat index will approach 115 degrees. The heat will slowly break on Friday and throughout the weekend. If at all possible, avoid going outside early this week.
