Expect a hot day and weekend ahead; eyeing the tropics [Video]

(WALA) – Brace yourself for HOT temperatures today and this weekend. Rain chances are going to be low to nonexistent between now and the end of the weekend. Highs will reach the mid 90s this afternoon through Sunday and “feels like” temps will easily be over 100. Make sure you stay hydrated! Moisture levels rise next week, and rain/storm chances rise too. We’ll get rain coverage up to 60% for most of next week.

In the tropics we are watching two disturbances out there. One is off the east coast of Florida and the other is moving into the southern Gulf. Chances of development are in the 50-60% range for now. We’ll keep a close eye on them.
