Investigations into potentially fraudulent voter registration applications in some Pennsylvania counties are fueling misinformation. Pennsylvania is one of the key battleground states that’s likely to decide the outcome of the presidential race. “Elections in Pennsylvania are free, fair, safe and secure,” Al Schmidt, Pennsylvania’s secretary of the commonwealth, told CNN on Thursday. The message of reassurance comes as former President Donald Trump is raising doubts. “They’ve already started cheating in Lancaster, they’ve cheated. We caught them with 2,600 votes,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Allentown on Tuesday. The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office says it’s looking into 2,500 voter registration applications suspected of fraud, which are different from ballots.
