Fallen Osage Beach officer’s family sees donations | Mid-Missouri News [Video]

A foundation dedicated to supporting families of first responders has raised more than $10,000 for the family of Phylicia Carson, an Osage Beach police officer who died while attempting to assist in a traffic stop over the weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating Carson’s death on Saturday morning. She was a secondary responding officer in a high-speed pursuit on U.S. 54 after police said the suspect, Christopher Aaron Bishop, did not stop for the first officer.

The Chief Mason Griffith Foundation was started in 2023 in honor of Hermann police Sgt. Mason Griffith, who was killed in the line of duty in the same year during a 14-hour standoff and shooting.

The foundation was created to help families of fallen first responders, families battling medical complications and retired first responders. 

After Carson’s death, the foundation stepped in to help her family, including her husband and six children.
