COOS BAY, Ore. — The city of Coos Bay is set to receive $25 million in federal funding, marking a major step toward transforming its port into a key shipping hub on the West Coast. Local leaders are looking forward to the potential economic boost, as the project is expected to create over 8,000 jobs and revitalize the region.

The development, known as the Pacific Coast Intermodal Port Terminal Planning Project, will be the first fully ship-to-rail facility on the West Coast, and many are hoping it will reverse years of economic decline in the area.
