A large fire was contained by firefighters after a nearly daylong response to a storage facility fire. The Doña Ana County Fire Rescue responded to a pecan storage facility at Stahmann Farms. The facility had about 380,000 pounds of pecans inside.The fire produced significant smoke in the area and those sensitive to smoke are being encouraged to avoid the area. DACF Chief Shannon Cherry said the continued response was needed to keep the flames from spreading or beginning again.”Our crews are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of everyone on-site and to prevent the fire from starting up again,” Cherry said. “We will remain on scene and continue applying water to the fire until the area is secure.”No one was reported …
