Fire destroys Wahiawa youth football team’s equipment | News [Video]

WAHIAWA, Hawaii (Island News) – “The kids are pretty devastated by seeing this,” said Wahiawa United football coach Isaac Feleti.

An overnight fire at the Wahiawa District Park burned thousands of dollars of football equipment for kids ranging in age from eight to 14 years old.

“Pretty much helmets are in there, cleats, shoulder pads, tackling bags, sled bags, step over bags, face masks,” he said. “The sad thing is that the kids got to witness, how burnt and how bad it is.”

The Wahiawa United football team has almost 100 players and the football season starts in about two weeks.
