First Alert Forecast: Somewhat smoky start to the week turns Summer-like [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA)—We have some pleasant, clear, and beautiful conditions in the Rapid City area, but take a look at this: smoke from the wildfires is waiting in the wings just to the west of our area. That smoke is expected to build into a significant portion of our area, and we will try to get into Western South Dakota by the time we get through tomorrow and possibly into Tuesday. We will be keeping an eye on that.

Besides the smoke, a building ridge of high pressure will make things rather toasty as we approach the end of this week. Tomorrow morning, temperatures should drop into the mid-and lower 40s, warming up as you get the kiddos out the door to the bus stop. But as we move into tomorrow, the upper 70s and lower 80s should be in place throughout our map.
