CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Lowcountry residents are preparing for a rare winter storm that is expected to deliver up to two inches of snowfall this week.

A winter storm watch will be in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning for Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Colleton, Beaufort, Hampton, Inland Jasper and Allendale Counties.

Live 5 First Alert Meteorologist Joey Sovine says the first winter precipitation will move in after 4 p.m. on Thursday. The heaviest snow will be expected around 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Most of the precipitation will move out by about 2 a.m. on Wednesday, when the low temperature is expected to be around 22.
