First Alert Weather Day for record-breaking heat in Phoenix area [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect through Thursday evening. Please try to limit time outdoors from late morning through the afternoon. If you do have to be outdoors, stay hydrated and seek shade when necessary.

It won’t be as hot as Saturday, but it will still be very hot today, with a high of 112. This would break today’s daily record of 107 set in 2003. With a high of 117, Saturday broke the daily record and the record for the hottest September day in Phoenix.

The work week will also start hot, with a high of 109 on Monday and 111 on Tuesday. If verified, these temperatures would also be record-breakers. The ridge of high pressure may flatten a little towards the middle to the end of the week, but temperatures will still be well above normal, in a range of 106 to 108.
