First Alert Weather: Tropical Storm Debby forecast to rapidly intensify into a hurricane late today [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Happy Sunday! It’s been a very quiet and sunny start to the day. Temperatures shortly before noon are warming up quickly into the mid to upper 80s with a mostly sunny sky. We will likely remain mostly sunny this afternoon with high temperatures climbing into the lower 90s. Winds will come from the northeast today at 5-10 mph. We’ll hold on to a 20% chance for an isolated shower south and east of I-20/59. The greatest chance to see a stray shower or storm will likely occur in Shelby, Chilton, Talladega, Coosa, Clay, and Tallapoosa counties. If you plan on attending the Barons game late this afternoon,  you should plan for sunshine and temperatures in the lower 90s. I definitely recommend applying sunscreen and grabbing a hat and sunglasses. We will likely see temperatures cool into the mid 80s by 7 p.m. CDT with a mostly clear sky.
