Fishers getting ready to start construction on 96th Street bridge [Video]

The bridge will connect the Fishers portion of the Nickel Plate Trail to Indianapolis.

FISHERS, Ind. — The City of Fishers is gearing up to start construction on the pedestrian bridge over 96th Street. 

The bridge will connect the Fishers portion of the Nickel Plate Trail to Indianapolis, where trail construction is currently underway and expected to finish in spring 2025, according to city officials.  

The bridge will have concrete arches, with cables supporting the bridge deck; multi-colored LED lighting; and logos for Fishers, Indianapolis, Nickel Plate Trail and Andretti. The northern and southern ends of the bridge will feature a “retaining wall approach,” officials said. 

The Fishers section of the Nickel Plate Trail stretches from north of 96th Street to 146th Street. After the bridge is installed, the trail will continue south to 42nd Street in Indianapolis and connect with the Monon Trail.
