One of the final polls of the election cycle shows majority support for a Florida marijuana legalization ballot initiative. But while it’s still short of the 60 percent requirement needed for for passage under state law, the pollsters noted that it’s still within the margin of error to succeed.
At the same time, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is ramping up his anti-cannabis rhetoric ahead of Election Day—claiming that the legalization measure would cause the state to lose tourism revenue despite the fact that other legal states have consistently seen an influx in out-of-state visitors to patronize their cannabis businesses.
The survey from Victory Insights that was released on Monday found that 56 percent of likely voters are in favor of the cannabis measure, Amendment 3, while 44 percent are opposed. The poll involved interviews with 400 likely voters from November 1-2.
