LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The former CEO of NPR, a Bellarmine graduate and former trustee has died.
John Lansing was 67 years old. His cause of death hasn’t been released.
Lansing got his start as a studio technician and camera operator at a TV station in Paducah, Kentucky. He eventually became president of Scripps Network, which owns Food Network and HGTV.
He was named NPR CEO in 2019, leading the company through the pandemic.
Lansing was named Bellarmine’s Alumnus of the Year in 2023 and retired the same year.
Bellarmine President Susan Donovan released this statement:
“He was a wonderful ambassador for Bellarmine in his lifelong pursuit of journalistic excellence … and his desire to support democracy by keeping the public informed.”
