Franklin Boulevard project set to start in Sacramento in 2025 [Video]

The Franklin Boulevard Complete Street project has been in the works for years – seeking to make the road safer for all.

Megan Johnson is a senior engineer for the City of Sacramento’s Public Works Department. She says recently, the city council awarded the construction contract. Construction is set to begin after the rainy season is over, targeting some time in March. It could last into 2026, depending on the weather, according to Johnson.

People working and living along Franklin Boulevard have been pushing for changes for a long time–voicing a need for bike lanes, improved sidewalks, shade and safety improvements for pedestrians.

“This project was initiated by the community. The Franklin Boulevard Business Association includes many intergenerational business owners who have really deep ties to the community,” Johnson said.
