NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – A former inmate at a Tennessee women’s prison has turned her life around and is now interning at Princeton University, thanks to a coding class she took while behind bars.
Mary McCrary spent a year and a half behind bars at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center in Nashville. She got out late last year and was accepted into a coding internship at Princeton, where she analyzes data in a video game program.
“I wake up some days, and I can’t even believe I’m here. I’m in New Jersey at an Ivy League school, one of the top schools in America,” McCrary said.
