London’s FTSE 100 opened lower with news of another big index constituent heading off to the US souring the mood.
London’s blue-chip index was down 35 at 8,316 in early trades with plant hire giant Ashtead confirming it has had enough of the UK and is moving its primary listing to the US as that is where more than 90% of its sales come from.
British Gas owner Centrica increased its share buyback by £300 million ahead of an investor day, adding that since November 2022 it will have bought back 20% of its shares in issue.
