FTSE 100 opens higher; easyJet takes off while Pets at Home slumps – Market Report [Video]

London’s FTSE 100 enjoyed a brighter start on Wednesday, picking up 8 points to reach 8,266.

easyJet led risers early on after reporting profit jumped by more than a third over the course of the year, aided by a record summer period.

Anglo American also gained following news it had sold a 6.6% stake in its platinum business for proceeds of US$527 million through a share placing.

Elsewhere, Pets at Home slumped after lowering profit guidance in interim results on what it called a ‘subdued’ retail market.

And finally, Just Eat became the latest high-profile company to announce plans to delist from the London Stock Exchange, citing ‘complexity’ and ‘administrative burden’.
