Global Crowdstrike-Microsoft outage affecting the Permian Basin [Video]

MIDLAND, Texas — Starting Thursday evening until Friday morning, people across the globe experienced what’s being called the “Blue Screen of Death'” (BSOD). 

One Odessa citizen, Maigen Pool, said she was sure it is a scary thing for everyone, not knowing how things will be for the next day or even weeks. 

The source of all this chaos? 

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike issued a faulty update that grounded flights and impacted banks and businesses worldwide.

CrowdStrike is one of the largest cybersecurity companies in the world based right here in Texas. 

In West Texas, the Midland International Air & Space Port told Newswest 9 that “Airline fights have been arriving and departing; however, there are multiple delays from the outage, and it would be advisable for passengers to check with their airline for flight statuses.”
