Good things come in small(er) taprooms for Selvedge Brewing [Video]

Sometimes downsizing can be good for business. At least, that was the case for Selvedge Brewing when it moved from Charlottesville’s Woolen Mills neighborhood to Bellair just west of city limits.

Taproom manager Casey Robinson told The Daily Progress the sheer size of the space in its original home in the redeveloped Wool Factory complex on the Rivanna River presented some challenges for the brewery.

“Even when the space was completely full, it still felt kind of empty because the space was so spread out,” Robinson said. “Here, it’s a little bit more compact. We still have about the same number of seats, but even with a small amount of people, it feels lively and energetic. So that’s been better. The vibe here is all our own.”
