SEYMOUR, CT (WFSB) – Connecticut’s governor planned to announce some help for small businesses that were impacted by last week’s historic flooding.
Lamont was expected to announce on Monday afternoon a plan aimed at assisting with the clean up and getting businesses back to normal operations.
The Hallmark Store, Yankee Quilter and a diner were just a few of the stores in a plaza that sustained major damage.
The state funding expected to be announced by Lamont was said to be separate from any potential federal funding that businesses could be eligible to receive if the state is awarded a major disaster declaration from FEMA. As of Monday morning, the state and impacted municipalities were working with FEMA to determine if they do qualify for assistance.
Lamont said he will be joined by representatives from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and other state and local officials.
