Grant for installing solar panels to be cut [Video]

Homeowners considering getting solar panels have been warned a grant to help install them is set to be cut from New Year’s Day.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) grant, which is designed to support the installation of solar panels, will drop by €300 from €2,100 to €1,800. 

The grant can be applied for through the government-funded Solar PV Scheme. It is open to homeowners, including private landlords, but works must be completed within eight months of grant approval.

In order to qualify for the existing funding amounts available, it is vital to submit a completed application through the SEAI website, ahead of the New Year’s Eve deadline.
