Half of Irish businesses concerned about risk AI poses to security [Video]

More than half of Irish businesses are concerned about the risk artificial intelligence (AI) poses to security, a survey by HR and employment law consultancy Peninsula Group has found.

Despite a 50% year-on-year increase in the use of AI among small and medium-sized businesses, only one in 10 SMEs say they are regularly using AI in their workplace.

Across the 79,000 businesses in five countries (Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK), Irish employers were found to be the least likely to use AI regularly, while Australian and New Zealand employers were the most likely.

Overall, almost half of those surveyed report concerns about the security risks posed by AI, a 60% year-on-year increase.

Similarly, nearly half of employers (47%) surveyed cite security risk as their biggest concern around AI in the workplace, up from 30% this time last year.
