Harrisburg City Council expresses concern to Mayor Williams over Broad Street Market emergency declaration [Video]

UPDATE — Mayor Williams issued a statement Monday in response to the letter from the Harrisburg City Council regarding the emergency declaration at the Broad Street Market.

In the statement, Williams says that she finds it “disheartening” that the council is delaying construction of the building.

In Pennsylvania, mayors have the authority to declare a State of Emergency.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Members of the Harrisburg City Council wrote a letter to Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams expressing their concern over the emergency declaration at the Broad Street Market back in July.

On July 23, while attempting to rebuild the Broad Street Market’s brick building that was destroyed by the fire more than a year ago, Mayor Williams and the City of Harrisburg declared an emergency due to a rat infestation.
