Hog Wild Bar-B-Que in Placerville is top BBQ option [Video]

Hog Wild Bar-B-Que on Main Street made it onto Yelp’s 2024 list of Top 100 Barbecue Spots and also appeared on Food Network.

The customers can’t rave enough about their smoked meats. 

“Oh, I think it’s great,” said Ann Metherd. “I’m originally from Texas and so barbecue’s kind of my thing.”

Open since 2010, the family-owned business is known for their brisket.

“The brisket today is as good as, I think, as good as we’ve ever had,” Eddie Metherd said.

To get the meat looking good, the day starts early for staff at Hog Wild.

“My earliest pit master is on at 5 o’clock in the morning to get those briskets on, to get the ribs on, chicken,” said owner Mary Fulmer.

Their brisket is cooked low and slow for 16 hours on a wood smoker.
