PORTLAND, Ore. — A holiday tradition that has brought large crowds to Portland’s living room is back for its 40th year. The annual tree lighting ceremony at Pioneer Courthouse Square will be held on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
Santa Claus will flip the switch on more than 9,500 colorful LED lights to brighten the 75-foot-tall Douglas Fir at the square. The tree — donated by Stimson Lumber for the 23rd year — arrived in Portland on Nov. 13.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, the tree lighting ceremony will be streamed live on KGW+, available on Roku, Fire TV and Apple TV.
