Action News Now spoke with Jeff and Leasa Hill, the owners of Hula’s Chinese Bar-B-Q in Chico, about their frustrations with their increasing sewer bills, which have gone up from $335.50 a month in January 2023 to $868.46 a month as of August of 2024.
CHICO, Calif. – The owners of Hula’s Chinese Bar-B-Q in Chico, Leasa and Jeff Hill, are expressing frustration over a significant increase in their sewage bills, which have reportedly quadrupled since they took ownership of the business in 2021.
The Hills are seeking answers from the city, claiming the charges are inconsistent and difficult to understand.
Leasa Hill shared with Action News Now that when they purchased the restaurant in September 2021, their sewer bill was a manageable $22.98 per month.
