TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – Many in the Trussville community are getting accustomed to sitting in traffic trying to get through that new road construction in the Trussville area.
Work on I-59 and on Chalkville Mountain Road will likely lead to longer commutes and force drivers to search for alternate routes.
One of the most popular new routes will be Highway 11. The road only got busier as rush hour approached on Wednesday, but it still flowed smoothly.
Highway 11 runs along I-59 for a large stretch and is already a very busy road. So with construction starting, the question is whether businesses have already seen an increase in traffic.
Pastry Art Bake Shoppe owner Carol Gregg says she expects more traffic in the months ahead, but hasn’t noticed a huge impact yet.
Still, she wants to thank all the customers who aren’t going to allow the longer trip to stop them from visiting her store.
