WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Over the last few days, we’ve seen slick, icy roads creating dangerous driving conditions. That winter weather is also impacting local businesses.
“I was like sliding, I almost ran into a pole, twice. It was not it,” said Denisia Davis, who was walking around downtown.
With officials urging people to stay home, owners are left struggling with limited customers. The majority of businesses in downtown Wilmington closed up shop on Wednesday and Thursday.
A select few though, including one Irish pub Sláinte, stayed open.
“As a business, we’re open because we’ve never been closed,” said owner Mikhail Sobol. “It’s a small bar, we don’t have much expenses or employees.”
Sobol says he decided to stick with their normal hours too. He says the road conditions have made business extra slow the past few days.
