Independence and Weddington pick up wins at the 2nd Keep Pounding Classic [Video]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – In the 2nd ever Keep Pounding Classic hosted by the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium, Independence and Weddington picked up huge wins to start the 2024 season.

It is ironic that the both won. The 2 teams met in the 4A Western Regional Final last season with Weddington winning that game. The Warriors advanced to the state title game and won that one as well.

Independence beat Myers Park on Thursday 24-21. The Patriots rolled out to a 24-0 halftime lead, but had to hold on late as the Mustangs made a furious comeback.

Weddington won a defensive battle with Providence Day 13-7. Warriors trailed 7-0 early and came back to win thanks to 2 touchdown passes from Greg Fee.
