IPL 2025 Retention Rules: The Governing Council of IPL has unveiled a new retention policy for IPL 2025. New rules have been made for foreign players to ensure a hassle-free auction and the availability of all the players. If there’s any overseas player, who wants to play in the IPL, should register first for the mega-auction before the next season. If the player doesn’t follow these procedures, then he would become ineligible for the auction and it would delay their IPL career by one year.

There are stricter rules for those players who make a commitment and then pull out of the tournament. If a player enters the auction and is bought by a team and then pulls out even before the tournament begins, then he would be banned for two years from both playing in the tournament and putting up his name in future auctions.
