Island Italian restaurant to close location after nearly 40 years [Video]

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Island Italian Restaurant announced on Sunday that the last day of business at their current location will be Dec. 14. 

Staff told 3NEWS they hope to rebuild and reopen soon– saying they will miss their customers tremendously. The restaurant has bought land down the road next to Seashore Middle Academy. They plan to build a new location there in the coming years. 

“We are building on 1.5 acres. We were lucky to be able to buy, just not sure how long it will take.”

The news comes after more than 37 years of the restaurant’s tenure, with the building’s landlord reportedly selling the property to AEP, per the restaurant.
