Jefferson Parish councilmembers are pressing Entergy Louisiana over recent unexplained power outages. Councilman at large Scott Walker said in the last few weeks, residents across Jefferson Parish have experienced multiple outages. However, the power outage problems have been persisting for months without much explanation. “This is the stack of papers of every power outage In Jefferson parish this year since January. A lot of them in different areas, some small, some big,” said Walker.According to Walker, the council doesn’t have any authority over the utility, which can be frustrating for residents. They have been sending those complaints and calls to the Public Service Commissioner, who regulates Entergy. On Tuesday, Metairie had a power outage where 14,000 were without power. Over the weekend, there were several other outages. “We’ve seen Metairie, Kenner the Westbank and it seems like it’s at a greater frequency in 2024 than I can remember,” said Walker. …
