Josephine County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of new scam | CrimeWatch [Video]

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office is warnings businesses and residents about a new scam — where the scammer poses as law enforcement. 

According to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, the scammers will call businesses and tell them they are working on an investigation. 

“[They will say they] need a list of their current clients along with their phone numbers/emails. When the business gives the scammer the list, the scammer turns around and calls their customers requesting payment for the services that they are receiving,” the release said. “This is a clever scam, because if you are a customer and know you may be owing money for the service, you are more apt to pay.”
