Vice President Kamala Harris is using a New Hampshire campaign stop on Wednesday to propose an expansion of tax incentives for small businesses — presenting a pro-entrepreneur plan that may soften her previous calls for wealthy Americans and large corporations to pay higher taxes.

Before getting into the details of her plans, she started by making comments about the deadly shooting at a Georgia high school Wednesday.

“We have to end this epidemic of gun violence in our country once and for all. It doesn’t have to be this way,” she said.

Harris then started speaking on the purpose of her visit – to talk about her small business tax plan and ideal of what she called an “opportunity economy” where everyone gets a chance at success.

To do that, she wants to expand from $5,000 to $50,000 tax incentives for small business startup expenses, with the goal of eventually spurring 25 million new small business applications over four years.
