A Sugar Creek woman is fighting back on her eviction proceedings in a restaurant she never got to open in far East Kansas City near the former Leeds Assembly Plant. LaDonya Wells had a dream to turn the old Leeds Diner, 6422 Stadium Drive, into a new restaurant that would serve Chiefs fans, warehouse workers and VA hospital employees.Now, that dream has turned into a nightmare.”I’ve lost so much,” Wells said. “I can’t give up. I can’t give up.” Wells showed KMBC 9 Investigates water damage on ceiling tiles, electrical outlets that need to be updated and a stove hood that is not able to start, among other issues.
