Dogs 4 Valor, operated through an organization called The Battle Within, helps retired veterans and first responders in the Kansas City area work with their service dogs to help manage depression.
A small, but mighty, group of VFW Auxiliary volunteers were up bright and early Saturday to spread cheer and generous donations to Kenosha area veterans.
With the help of donations from area businesses and individuals including Ocean Spray, Kwik Trip, Festival Foods, Paielli’s Bakery, Kroger, CJW, Dunkin’ in Somers and Cabela’s, among several others, the group put together baskets of food and other items for 25 area veterans.
Each recipient received two boxes filled with items including a turkey, eggs, bacon, bread, beef jerky, cereal, milk, homemade stockings, gift cards and other assorted items.
