Kids show off their skills at UNL State 4-H Rodeo [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s 4-H Rodeo galloped its way into the Sandhills Global Event Center on Friday where kids got to show off their skills working with their equine partners.

Whether it was barrel racing or pole bending, 4-H had about 25 to 30 kids participating in those competitions and said there will be more than 200 people competing in events on Saturday.

Most of the participants come from eastern Nebraska, but organizers expect some travelers from Iowa, Kansas and South Dakota.

10/11 spoke with a coach who said its great to see the kids build relationships with horses and develop their rodeo careers.

“It all starts at a very young age, being raised around horses,” said Wyatt Clark, UNL Rodeo Coach. “Animal ownership, raising and taking care of horses, it builds a special bond and it builds a special character.”
