WASHINGTON — Labor Day, a federal holiday honoring the U.S. labor movement and the achievements of American workers, is here once again.
Observed on the first Monday of September, Labor Day traditionally marks the end of summer — if the pumpkin spiced lattes and back-to-school shopping hadn’t already set the tone.
Unlike other federal holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, most stores and major retailers will remain open on Labor Day. Many businesses seize the opportunity to reel in customers with Labor Day sales.
While the majority of stores will keep their doors open on Monday, Sept. 2, there are a handful of stores that will be closed.
If you plan on hitting the stores on Monday, make sure to double-check your local store hours as some may be operating on reduced holiday schedules.
