MAUI, Hawai’i (Island News) — The owner of a luxury home on Maui is starting off the new year dealing with extensive property damage after a landslide busted a retaining wall behind the house.
The barrier was a recognizable landmark along the busy Wai’ehu Beach Road that sat at the border of the Wai’ehu Terrace and Wai’ehu Heights neighborhoods.
It is unclear what caused the slip. Island News went to the door of the home on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve and the person inside at the time declined to comment.
Frank Drogowski lives two doors down from the home and said the damage happened the night before New Year’s Eve.
