Livium Ltd (ASX:LIT, OTC:LMMFF) managing director and CEO Simon Linge joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss a A$850,000 grant the company has secured from the Western Australian Government to establish a battery recycling facility in the state
The funding, part of WA’s electronic waste infrastructure program, supports the development of a sustainable recycling network within Australia.
Linge said that the grant advanced Livium’s goal of creating a national battery recycling ecosystem, aiding in the WA Government’s initiative to enhance e-waste reuse, processing and recycling while generating employment.
The grant will fund Envirostream Australia Pty Ltd, a Livium subsidiary, in establishing a WA-based facility designed for battery collection, sorting, discharge and temporary storage. Batteries will then be sent to Envirostream’s Victoria plant for final processing, yielding Mixed Metal Dust (MMD) and other recoverable materials.
This facility will expand Livium’s collection network and advance its nationwide battery recycling framework.
The WA Government’s support is part of a broader A$5.4 million investment in e-waste recycling, aiming to strengthen state recycling capabilities and reduce reliance on overseas disposal.
Livium’s long-term strategy includes further processing infrastructure as collection targets are met, reinforcing Australia’s position in the global battery recycling market.
