Local business facing closure after owner sees no profits [Video]

The space has two indoor-heated pools for pups to use and enjoy.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A space for dogs to swim could be closing their doors, as we head into 2025. Caleb Ballew took ownership of Dog Splash on January 1st, 2024. One year later, after saying this previous year was the most successful for the business, a question of shutting down is looming. 

“We’re just not able to keep on going,” said Ballew. They’re on the brink of closing. “To see it go would just be such a loss to our community and to my dog,” said customer Catherine Calvo. 

The reasoning behind the potential closure has nothing to do with the success or his love of the business. Ballew said, “I didn’t take a paycheck the entire year and that’s personally put my wife and my personal finances into a bind.”
