Local ice cream shop struggling with business due to construction [Video]

SAN DIEGO — Along University Avenue is Rosa’s Ice Cream and Fruit Bar. The shop is a dream come true for its owner, Emelia Frias. She and her husband, Francisco, have owned the place for about five years. Their business was going smoothly until nine months ago, when construction started in front of Rosa’s, taking away already rare parking spots.

“Customers don’t come in because no parking, nothing,” Emilia said.

Emilia and Francisco said the construction is deeply impacting their business. Customers call and say they can’t come in because there’s nowhere to park, and delivery drivers won’t pick up orders because there’s nowhere to stop.
