Louisiana governor update on Calliope homeless encampment [Video]

A temporary restraining order was filed Monday amid the state moving in to clear homeless camps before Thanksgiving. A homeless encampment in New Orleans was set to be cleared by the state after the governor claims the city missed its deadline to have the camp clean by Thanksgiving. Troop NOLA started clearing the camps Monday morning but stopped after the restraining order was filed. The restraining order was granted by Judge Ethel Simms Julien and a hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3. Troop NOLA issued notices 24 hours before the sweeps began, telling the homeless they would need to vacate. According to some of the unhoused people living under the bridge, other unhoused residents from different parts of the city were brought to the bridge before the sweeps were halted.
